Family Myths/Family Stories
Museum of Fine Arts, Remis Auditorium
465 Huntington Avenue
Boston, Massachusetts
Sunday, April 11, 2010 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Families are endlessly fascinating. Explore their complexity through the lenses of psychology, literature, and art. Psychoanalyst Bennett Simon speaks about mythology and family dynamics and the ways the past informs the present; best-selling author Alice Hoffman reads from The Story Sisters and other recent works and discusses families in her writing; MFA curator Erica Hirshler and educator Barbara Martin consider the ways we read family portraits, taking varied responses to Sargent's The Daughters of Edward Darley Boit as their starting point.
